Homemade Apple Pie Jam for Canning & Gifting

This Apple Pie Jam captures the cozy flavors of apple pie in a spreadable form! Perfect for toast, desserts, or gifting, it’s ready in 40 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 pounds Golden Delicious apples (45 large apples)
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter
  • 1 3-ounce pouch Sure-Jell Liquid Pectin
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons apple pie spice

Instructions

  1. Core, peel, and slice apples to get 2 pounds.
  2. Cook apples with 1 cup water in a large pot for 8-10 minutes until tender, stirring often.
  3. Add 5 cups sugar and 1/2 tsp butter, bring to a full boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in pectin, boil for 1 minute, stirring.
  5. Remove from heat, skim foam, and stir in 2 1/2 tsp apple pie spice.
  6. Ladle into 6-7 sterilized half-pint jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
  7. Process in a water bath for 10 minutes, let sit 5 minutes, then cool for 12-24 hours.
  8. Check seals; refrigerate unsealed jars.

Notes

  • Use Golden Delicious for sweetness; Granny Smith adds tartness.
  • Test set on a chilled plate; it should gel in a minute. My mom’s trick never fails!
  • Store unsealed jars in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
